Treat and Prevent Acne To Prevent Acne Scars

LATINO SKIN
Latino skin is very sensitive. It discolors quickly and scars easily because of active melanin and hyper pigmentation. Because your skin is paper-thin, minor trauma causes deep full thickness injury to the layers of the skin. This may result in hyperpigmentation.

Brown skin, Black skin, Yellow skin and all the shades between. That diversity makes our society so appealing. In Southern Asia, India has been referred to as a melting pot of skin tones with the native inhabitants of Northern India having lighter skin tones compared to the darker skin tones of Southern India and Sri Lanka. Indian skin is a prime example of the differences skin types that require differing care strategies within the same race.

Those differences in brown, yellow and black skin types present unique challenges that may be managed successfully when carefully considered. As co-founder of Shanti Medspa at The Institute for Advanced Skincare and Optimal Health, we recognize the need to celebrate our unique differences.

To achieve this goal, we carry unique skincare products and skincare lasers which permit treatment of these distinct differences. Our ability to treat brown skin, black skin or yellow skin is enhanced by these special tools. At Shanti Medspa at The Institute for Advanced Skincare, we are consistently able to treat these skin types safely and effectively.

The Pigmentation in skin provides unique protection to the yellow, brown or black skin tone.

The presence of pigment is protective from the damaging effects of the sun. Brown, yellow and black skin types are also resistant to some of the wrinkle creating affects of sun exposure. Some common skin cancer types are relatively speaking, less common in brown skin, yellow skin or black skin individuals.

The Pigmentation in brown, black or yellow skin does respond to injury and stress in a slightly different manner. Lets look at the common disorder of acne. Over 60% of individuals suffer from some bout of acne after the age of 20. For most, it may be an occurrence that decreases in frequency with age, however the acute phase of acne may be physically and emotionally diconcerting. Black skin, brown skin and yellow skin tones respond to skin injury associated with acne differently. These skin types frequently develop hyperpigmentation as a response to acne injury. The hyperpigmentation/discoloration may be associated with acne scarring.

Our Pixel Resurfacing Laser is perfectly suited for the treatment of discoloration, hyperpigmentation, fine line and acne scarring. Another option for acne vulgaris or pustular acne is ALA (Amino levulonic Acic). Frequently, ALA allows us to get control over the acute acne flare in black skin, bron skin or yellow skin tones.

The most important means of avoiding the development of acne discoloration or hyperpigmentation is the aggressive treatment of bouts of acne. The common problem of acne treatment regimens is the propensity to over dry the skin. Poor hydration and drying of yellow skin, brown skin or black skin can worsen acne scarring and lead to more hyperpigmentation and discoloration. Its a viscious cycle. At The Institute, our Clear Skin System provides the appropriate balance of acne fighting treatment and moisturizing protection.

At The Institute for Advanced Skincare, we recognize that no two skin types are ever alike. Our highly trained staff are experts in carefully identifying your skin type by our detailed Clear Skin System evaluation. It's our promise to you. So, if you have had failed at controlling your acne, please fill out our online acne questionnaire and submit it to get prompt, no obligation expert advice from our acne team. Dont let embarrassing Acne prevent you from living the life you want.

Acne Scar Treatment

"An ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure".

What causes Acne and what to do about those persistent acne scars

Acne is caused when over activity of the skin's oil glands leads to plugged pores and the outbreak of lesions, according to the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases, a branch of the National Institutes of Health's Department of Health and Human Services.

The American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) reports that the acne skin condition afflicts as many as 50 million Americans. Most common in adolescents and young adults, acne affects people of all ages and races. Americans spend more than $100 million a year on non-prescription acne treatments, the AAD reports. That does not include soaps, cleansers, prescriptions therapies and visits to the physician.

Getting rid of existing acne is just the beginning. Persistent cysts and lesions often leave behind long lasting marks in the form of acne scars which represent post-inflammatory changes in the skin that are not easily reversed.

The Expense of Acne Scar Removal

While treating acne can be expensive, depending on the method you choose, acne scar treatment can be even more costly and occasionally even discomforting or painful. That's why AcnEase® offers an effective remedy for acne scars-PREVENTION. AcnEase®, an all natural acne treatment is the only herbal systemic acne product that not only treats existing acne but also prevents new acne from forming. This permits the skin to heal and decreases the incidence of persistent and severe acne that most often can lead to acne scars.

The most common "dermatological" procedures recognized for eliminating acne scars are:

Dermabrasion: At about $1,500 per treatment, the surgeons remove the top layers of skin with an electrical machine that abrades the skin. Repeated treatments are often necessary especially if new acne formation is not prevented.

Chemical peels: For $750 per treatment, doctors remove the top layers of skin with a chemical application. Often, this treatment must be repeated several times for satisfactory results. Again- if new acne outbreaks are not prevented peels may not only fail to bring satisfactory results but may not be permitted during times of acne flare-ups.

Collagen: Doctors make injections beneath the skin to replace the body's natural collagen that has been lost. This can be done with collagen or fat taken from another part of the body. The cost is $300-700 per cubic centimeter for collagen. Results are temporary, so it must be repeated. New acne scars will require new injections.

Laser resurfacing: High-energy light burns away damaged skin at $3,000 per treatment. Repeated treatments are sometimes necessary. New acne may produce new scars requiring additional treatments.

Punch grafts: Small skin grafts replace scarred skin. Doctors punch a hole in the skin to remove the scar, which is then replaced with unscarred skin. Each punch costs about $50. Multiple punches are usually necessary.

Subcision: Physicians detach the scar from deeper tissue, which allows a blood to pool under it. The blood clot helps form connective tissue under the scar, leveling it with the surface. (Pricing unavailable.) Usually, multiple treatments are required.

Natural Ways to Diminish the Appearance of Acne Marks and Scars

As an alternative to those expensive procedures to remove acne scarring, AcnEase® is an easy to swallow, specially coated tablet that is effective in treating both facial and body acne. It's the only all natural, orally administered product with demonstrated clinical efficacy for treating acne, preventing new acne from forming and making red spots and scars less visible. In addition, AcnEase® has been noted to improve the quality and health of skin in both males and females providing yet another reason for recommending this product as an alternative to expensive medical treatments.

Make Them Less Visible

For very mild scarring, you can try some home procedures and home products. Since the acne prone skin is often sensitive you should be careful before using at-home dermabrasion or chemical peel kits that you found in any drugstore. In addition if you have sensitive skin, you will want to stay away from anything containing retinol or alpha hydroxy as the irritation is inevitable with these treatments.

From our natural apothecary here are safe and non irritating options to diminish appearance of scars:

  • Rosehip seed oil, (available in health food stores) has shown to reduce the appearance of scars. Massage ( not rub) on the scars twice a day.
  • Aloe vera juice or gel fades scars and if applied immediately after a burn or a cut, can prevent scars altogether.
  • Lavender oil, (health food stores or bath and body shops) also reduces scar appearance when applied ( massaged delicately) on scars on a regular basis.
